Septic shock is a life-threatening condition. In recent decades, blood purification therapies have emerged as a potential treatment option for patients with septic shock.
Blood purification therapies involve removing harmful substances from the blood, such as inflammatory mediators, toxins, or pathogens, using various techniques. These therapies aim to modulate the immune response and reduce the burden of harmful substances on various organs, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
In this talk, we will talk about the latest updates on blood purification therapies in patients with septic shock. We will discuss the underlying principles of blood purification. We review the different techniques used, including hemoadsorption, high adsorptive hemofiltration, high cut off hemodialysis and plasmapheresis. We will also discuss the current evidence on the effectiveness of these therapies in improving patient outcomes, such as mortality rates and organ function.
