Prof. Davy CHENG
China


Professor Davy Cheng is the Founding Dean and Presidential Chair Professor, School of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China. Prior, he was a Distinguished University Professor and Acting Dean in Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University at London, Ontario, Canada. He was the co-founder and Medical Director of the MEDICI Centre (Medical Evidence, Decision Integrity & Clinical Impact), which was a WHO designated Collaborating Center in the study of global perioperative surgery and anesthesia care.

Prof. Cheng obtained his MD in 1983 and completed his internal medicine internship and anesthesia residency at the Faculty of Medicine University of Toronto. In 2007, he became the first anesthesiologist inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS). Prof. Cheng is an international Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, United Kingdom and is designated as CCPE (Canadian Certified Physician Executive) by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the Canadian Society of Physician Executives (CSPE). In 2022, he was elected Honorary Fellow of The Hong Kong College of Anesthesiologists (HKCA).

Prof. Cheng is a globally recognized healthcare leader at the forefront of research, practice and healthcare policy in the fields of perioperative surgical and anesthesia care, cardiac surgery, critical care medicine, and evidence-based clinical decision-making. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 60 books/chapters (citations 22471, h-index 66, i10-index 146). His pioneer work in fast-track cardiac anesthesia and recovery has become the standard of cardiac anesthesia and recovery practice around the world.
