Professor Jean Louis Vincent

Jean-Louis Vincent, MD, PhD, is Professor of Intensive Care at the University of Brussels, and Head of the Department of Intensive Care, at the Erasme University Hospital, Brussels, Belgium.

Prof Vincent has authored or co-authored more than 500 peer-reviewed publications and edited more than 80 books. He received the Distinguished Investigator award of the Society of Critical Care Medicine in 2001 and the College Medialist Award of the American College of Chest Physicians in 2003.

Prof Vincent is the editor-in-chief of "Critical Care", "Current Opinion in Critical Care", and "ICU Management". He is member of the Editorial Boards of 30 journals including "Critical Care Medicine" (senior editor), "American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine", "Intensive Care Medicine", "Lancet Infectious Diseases", "Chest", "Shock", and "Journal of Critical Care".

Prof Vincent has been the past President of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the European Shock Society, and the past Chairman of the International Sepsis Forum. Currently Prof Vincent is the General Secretary of the World Federation of Intensive Care and Critical Care Societies.
