Dr LAM Koon Ngai recevied M.B.,B.S. from the University of Hong Kong in 1993 and M.R.C.P. from Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1996. In 2001, he obtained fellowship in Critical Care Medicine from Hong Kong College of Physician and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He also attained fellowship from Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine in 2009 and fellowship from College of Intensive Care Medicine in 2010. In addition, he recevied the Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Disease from The University of Hong Kong in 2012 and MSc in Health Service Management from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014.

Regarding professional experiences, Dr Lam had been serving as an Associate Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Prince of Wales Hospital from 2002 to 2015.
He has been the Director of Intensive Care Unit, North District Hospital since 2015 and the Co-ordinator of Clinical Service, North District Hospital since 2017. Dr Lam was also a Clinical Assistant Professor (Hon) in The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2002 to 2015. From 2015, Dr Lam has been a Clinical Associated Professor (Hon) in the The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Lam has also taken a new positions in professional colleges. Since 2009, Dr Lam has been the Member of specialty board of Critical Care Medicine, Hong Kong College of Physicians. Dr Lam also served as the Supervisor of Training of Critical Care Medicine (HKCP), Prince of Wales Hospital from 2006 to 2015 and the Specialty Training Program Director, Critical Care Medicine (HKCP)from 2013 to 2015. Since 2015, Dr Lam has been the Supervisor of Training of CICM (Foundation), North District Hospital.
