WELCOME MESSAGE

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaesthesiology 2018 in Hong Kong. Throughout the years, the Meeting has always been a moment when great minds meet to attain greater heights in Anaesthesiology. This year will not be an exception.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone”. All of us prefer to stay in our comfort zone due to a sense of familiarity and certainty. In our rapidly progressing specialty, taking new initiatives and challenges is a cornerstone towards achieving greater excellence and breakthroughs. The Organizing Committee has put together an innovative programme this year to keep up with the latest trends in Anaesthesia. We will have our first Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) workshop. We are also honoured to have many world-renowned anaesthesiologists to share with us their latest discoveries. With the broad scope of symposia covering different subspecialties, we are confident that they will drench your thirst for knowledge. Through experience sharing among experts from across the globe, we hope the acquired knowledge will translate into better clinical practice that will ultimately benefit our patients.

Hong Kong is a unique city in the world where East meets West. We would like to welcome all foreign delegates to visit this vibrant and beautiful city where we call home. As we work towards gaining greater wisdom during the Meeting, may we also take some time to experience what the city has to offer. Our Meeting venue at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is the perfect location to appreciate the glamour of the Victoria Harbour. A visit to Hong Kong will not disappoint.

Without the selfless effort of the Organizing Committee, local and overseas speakers and the healthcare industry, this Meeting will not be possible. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have made our Annual Scientific Meeting possible.

We sincerely invite you to join us in stepping outside the comfort zone. When we appreciate the positive impact our practice has made, we will find all the effort worthwhile. Afterall, what can be more rewarding than to see our patients happier and healthier?
