What to expect:  Ultrasound is increasing being used in the trauma and emergency setting. Echocardiography helps the diagnosis and management of trauma patients with myocardial contusion, acute ischaemia and tamponade. Emergency scanning of the abdomen is now routinely performed to exclude intra-abdominal bleeding. Pulmonary ultrasound is useful to detect pneumothoraces and effusions. Of course, the world-wide trend is to have ultrasound guidance for vascular access. So come and join this workshop, which will enlighten you on the applications of ultrasounds in various settings. Short lectures will provide you the basics, and these will be followed by hands on demonstrations on various techniques of ultrasound scanning and echo on real subjects.
