Cardiopulmonary Exercise testing (CPX) Workshop

What to expect:  This workshop will explore the use of Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise (CPX) Testing as a means of preoperative evaluation of patients undergoing major surgery. For the first half, there will be an introduction to the CPX equipment, then a demonstration test explaining the test as it takes place. There will be a projector to display the computer screen from the CPX computer. A volunteer will exercise on a bicycle with attached ECG and O2 consumption measured. The volunteer will be exercised to his limits. This will be followed by 45 minutes of questions and answers. There will be a hand-out given.

Participants: All clinicians responsible for preoperative evaluation of patients undergoing major surgery are welcome. Maximum 25 per session
CME: 1.5 ACTIVE CME/CPD points per session
